The Broken Wand Ceremony is a time-honored tradition performed at the funeral or memorial service of a magician. During the ceremony, the magician's performance wand—or a ceremonial wand—is broken, symbolizing that with the magician's passing, the wand has lost its magic. The first Broken Wand Ceremony was held in 1926 following the death of Harry Houdini. Since then, it has become a meaningful tribute among magicians, honoring those who have dedicated their lives to the art of magic. The list to the right contains the members of our Ring for whom the Broken Wand Ceremony has been performed. Though they are no longer with us, their friendship, contributions, and love of magic remain an important part of our club's history. They are deeply missed by both our members and their loved ones, and their memories continue to inspire us.
